Membership
Currently the HRSA has 92 active members from Hungary and 110 registered members from neighbouring countries (at the end of 2017 the number of active members from Hungary were 213). HRSA operates 13 regional sections: in all the 7 regions of Hungary and in 6 regions abroad where Hungarian speaking regional specialists are working. The half of sections operates on a regular basis.
Past international events
HRSA was a co-organizer of 6th Central European Conference in Regional Science in September 20–22, 2017 in Banska Bystrica in co-operation with 4 Slovakian partners.
HRSA was be a co-organizer of 5th Central European PhD Workshop on Regional Economics in September 28–29, 2017 in Legénd in co-operation with Hungarian universities.
On October 19-20, 2017 the 15th Annual Conference of the HRSA was held in Mosonmagyaróvár with the focus on the dualities of regional science and studies. 155 participants attended the conference, among others 10 experts from abroad. On the first day two plenary sessions were organized: one in Hungarian and one in English, with international speakers: Grzegorz Gorzelak (University of Warsaw), Gunther Maier (Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien), Michael Steiner (Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz). The second day of the conference 12 parallel sessions (one in English) hosted 100 presentations with the participation of several invited speakers. The traditional 'Young Regional Scientist' prize was delivered.
Upcoming international events
The HRSA is going to hold its 16th Annual Conference in October 18-19, 2018 in Kecskemét, with the focus on the flows in the spatial economy. The international keynote speakers will be David Bailey (Aston University) and Andrea Morrison (Utrecht University). 15 parallel sessions will be organized (3 sessions in English). Registration is free of charge for ERSA/RSAI members (excluding Hungary). Presentations of 20 minutes are welcomed. Abstracts should be submitted by September 30, 2018.

HRSA will be a co-organizer of Borders and Regional Development GfR Conference in September 6–7, 2018 in Berlin in co-operation with German Speaking, Polish and Slovak Sections of ERSA.
HRSA will be a co-organizer of 7th Central European Conference in Regional Science. The conference will be held in Sopron, its planned date is 9–11 October 2019 and it will be organized in co-operation with our Slovak partners.
HRSA proposes hosting the Annual ERSA Congress in August 2021 in Pécs.
